The Debate Club is
just one of several
brand new clubs here at
AHS. While it offers a
mostly academic appeal,
the thrill of debate is
formulated this group and
took on the responsibility
of molding its members
to gain the skill in the
area of debate. This skill
is undoubtedly beneficial
to a student interested
in any field, and will
help prepare them for
a career in the future.
Students are exposed to
an environment where
they can polish their skills
in argument and do so
in a safe and respectful
environment. The art
of debate establishes a
sense of maturity, and
helps students learn the
art of argument which
could benefit them in
not only retaining a
well organized process
of thought, but apply
their newly earned skills
in persuasive essays in
standardized tests such as
the FCAT. Learning how
to process a well thought
out, and organized
debate parallels the same
qualities necessary to
organize a well thought
out organized persuasive
essay.
