April is Youth Art Month (YAM). In all the hustle and bustle of the busy world and the pending financial woes affecting our city, state and country, it is good to be able to work together as a community to celebrate how Art Shapes Our World. Auburndale High School’s chapter of the National Art Honor Society is sponsoring the 2nd Annual Stackhouse Student Art Showcase (SSAS), April 29-May 23, 2010. The Stackhouse Student Art Showcase celebrates visual arts students and their artistic pursuits. AHS students submitted over 115 art work selections this year to show how Art Shapes Their World. Robert Stackhouse, juror, and Rachel Powers, NAHS President, presented awards during a reception following the Auburndale Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, April 29, 2010, in the Stackhouse Art Center.
Congratulations to the student works selected for the show and the winners: Mark Adam Kalman, Best of Show; Tiffany Gabaldon, First Place; Kevin Daves, Second Place; Izabella Fuentes, Third Place; and Merit Awards to Janice Desinord and Emily Brauckmuller. Music for the event was provided by the AHS Quintett , directed by Mr. Glick. Performing musicians were Hayla Hines, Jessica Vance, Britt Mathis, Tim Balio, and Coral Nolan. SSAS runs April 29 through May 23.
Support our AHS visual arts students and visit the Stackhouse Art Gallery – we are open daily, 7AM until 2:45PM. Remember . . . You Gotta Have Art!
NAHS Sponsors are Geneva Hagelstein and Marshi Huneycutt. AHS Principal is Mr. John Hill; Assistant Principal
