Welcome! Thank you for taking
a few minutes to read a little about us.
Auburndale High School is located
in Auburndale,
Polk County, Florida. The city of Auburndale has 12,512
residents, but the high school draws from a large
geographic area. The school has been at its present
location since 1953 and since 1989 has been a grade 9-12
center. The area surrounding Auburndale is growing
quickly and our enrollment has begun to steadily
increase. Our total projected membership for the
2005-2006 school year is 1900 and is expected to
increase to over 2000 in the next five years. Our
current racial breakdown is as follows: 69% White, 22%
Black, 8% Hispanic and 1% other (Asian and Indian).
Auburndale High School's site consists of one parcel of
land which contains a total of 90 acres. The school
consists of 31 permanent buildings and six portable
units. The 2004-2005 school year saw completion of
the remodeling of the old physical education facilities
into four classrooms. The World Language department is
housed in the new classrooms.
We continue to exert extensive
effort to merge technology into our curriculum. The
school is 100% networked and there is at least one
computer in every teacher's room. There are five
computer labs that are fully networked and additional
computers have been added in the media center to
accommodate the increased student population.
