POINCIANA | Auburndale posted its first win of the season with a 51-7 victory over Poinciana Friday night in front of 300 fans at Poinciana Field.

The contest was the Class 4A, District 12 opener for both teams. Auburndale improved to 1-3 on the season, while the Eagles fell to 0-4.

"We challenged our kids this week and said we were going to finish one," said Auburndale Head Coach Pat Dooley. "I'm happy they were able to accomplish what they set their goals for."

The Bloodhounds tallied 263 yards of offense, while the defense held the Eagles to 30 yards. Auburndale also had two kickoff returns for touchdowns and a punt return for a score for a combined 188 yards.

Junior Ike Jasper led the Bloodhounds' special teams effort with a 64-yard kickoff return with 3:31 remaining in the first half, and a 85-yard kickoff return to open the third quarter.

Sophomore Keeshawn Maxwell rushed for 87 yards on 12 carries, including an 11-yard touchdown run.

Jahmal Gooden posted 41 yards on six carries, including a 2-yard touchdown scamper.

Ta'ree Armstrong had 49 yards on five carries and a score as well. Jeamiah Crawford caught a 42-yard strike from Demarcus Davis for another Bloodhound score.

Brandon Reynolds returned an Eagles punt 39 yards for the final Bloodhound score.

The Auburndale defense also forced a safety.

Poinciana quarterback Nico Vega scored on a 4-yard run in the game's closing minutes for the lone Eagle score.

Auburndale will take on George Jenkins at home next week.
