AUBURNDALE | Auburndale's Keeshawn Maxwell rushed for three touchdowns, quarterback DeMarcus Davis threw for two more, and the Bloodhounds won a shootout against George Jenkins, 41-30, in front of about 1,500 at Bruce Canova Stadium.

Jenkins (0-5) raced out to a 7-0 lead when Maurice Coon, who rushed for one touchdown and caught another for a score, capped a 48-yard drive with a 15-yard run to put the Eagles up 7-0 before a 45-minute lightning delay with 8:35 left in the first quarter.

After the delay, it was all Auburndale, which had Maxwell score from 19 yards out, Tyrone Robinson score on a 32-yard pass from Davis, and Kenny Davis take one of four Jenkins fumbles in from five yards out to give the Hounds a 21-7 lead early in the second quarter.

The Hounds' Davis, who threw for 161 yards on nine of 13 passing, pushed the lead to 28-10 with 5:16 left in the first half when he hit Michael McMahan on a 63-yard touchdown pass.

But Jenkins' had a gunslinger of its own in sophomore Billy Muscatello to answer just before the half. Muscatello, who completed 15 of 29 passes for 176 yards and one interception, hit Coon on an eight-yard touchdown pass to cut the lead to 28-17 at the half.

But that was as close as Jenkins would get.

Maxwell rushed for a game-high 99 yards.

Auburndale is off next week and will play at Lake Gibson in two weeks while Jenkins' schedule only gets worse with a road game against fourth-ranked Osceola.
