L to R: Caleb Nelson, Breanna Thornton, Mrs. Shaske,, Destiny Blackmon, Taylor Ladd

Congratulations goes out to all the FFA members who participated with our FFA this past year –

At last night’s County FFA Federation Banquet the Auburndale Sr FFA Chapter was awarded 3rd place for the most actively successful chapter in Polk County.  This is a great honor since we are a much small chapter than many others in the county and that most other High school FFA chapter have multiple teachers.  Destiny Blackmon received her trophy for placing 3rd in the County FFA Star Green-hand (1st year ag/FFA member) contest and she received a $100 check from Mr. Donald Bronson for her achievement.  We are very proud of all the accomplishments of our FFA chapter.

AHS Welcomes Judge Bob Doyel

After Mrs. Fountain’s English 2 classes finished up reading “Julius Caesar,” they are now going to put Brutus on trial for the murder of Julius Caesar.  This is going to teach the students skills in the argumentative writing process in a fun and engaging way. In order to learn more about trials and the court system, Judge Bob Doyel was invited to come to speak to her English classes on Friday, May 19th. It was a learning process for us all, and the students were inspired from Judge Doyel’s experiences. We are thankful he came to speak to our AHS students and look forward to him coming back to judge the murder trial against Brutus!

We would like to congratulate AHS alumni Faith Bailey, Faith Barnett, Wendell Lewis, Vanessa Norris, and Kyle Smith for being candidates for the American FFA degree.  The American FFA degree is the highest honor bestowed upon any regular member of the national FFA organization.  Usually 1% of FFA members earn this degree nationwide; AHS has five!  To see the original press release, click here.

Attention: Class of 2018 (current juniors)

The first date incoming seniors will want to take advantage of for senior portraits this summer is June 8th , and the second date is July 26thIf you wait until September to take your picture you will not have an opportunity to make any changes!  That’s because September is the retake date, and all senior pictures are scheduled over the summer to allow for more time with the photographer and let them choose their yearbook picture.  If you don’t take your senior picture over the summer, you will only have the one taken on the retake date in September to use!
