Ag Department News

Destiny Blackmon competed in the county FFA Star Green Hand Contest and placed 3rd .  She had to take a written general knowledge test, have her class notebook and Supervised Agricultural Experience notebook (her horse and plant projects) evaluated, and give a 3-5 minute speech about something in agriculture.  She chose “Agriculture and the Disabled.” Destiny did a great job! She will be getting her award and a check from the former Agriculture Commissioner Charles Bronson in May.

Chris Anderson and Latrell Lisbon competed in the Area 4 Ornamental Horticulture Demonstration Contest in the category of Production Agriculture.  They were up against 8 teams from 3 counties.  Chris and Latrell beat them all and took 1st Place and will be going to the University of Florida in Gainesville  on Friday April 21st to compete at the State Contest.  They demonstrated how to make a self-sustaining garden.

Justin Holmes competed in the OH Demo category of consumer use. He demonstrated how to make Fresh Salsa. He did not come in the top 3 but he did a good job with his demonstration and the salsa tasted great.

AHS Cinema Production News

The AHS Cinema Production program had its first Film Festival selection screened on March 5th at the 2017 Gasparilla International Film Festival (GIFF) in Ybor City.

The High School Competition had its screening at the AMC/Muvico Theatre in Ybor, and attendance was a packed house! Our entry also took home a “Best Female Performance in a Short Film” Nomination; we are very much looking forward to participating with GIFF again next year.

In other great Cinema Production news, the film screened at GIFF has also been accepted into yet another Film Festival – the 2017 Revolution Film Festival at Southeastern University!

Congratulations Hounds!
