FFA News

We had 3 students exhibit FFA Projects at the State Fair:

Ivanna Tavira showed a hog, which weighed 284 and she received a 2nd place ribbon for her piggy and 2nd place in her class for showmanship.

Breanna Thornton showed her bull calf  and heifer.  The bull received reserved grand champion for the open show (both adults and youth can show in this category) and 3rd place over all for the youth show.

Caleb Nelson showed poultry: 4 Rhode Island red hens.  They got 1 blue and 3 red ribbon and Caleb placed 3rd overall  in seniors for showmanship.

Ciara Kintner also showed open show for a ranch; she won 2 blue ribbons for the open beef show and Division Grand Champion for the open show as well. She showed a heifer and a young bull.

Congratulations to all!

SGA News

Congratulations to the Student Government Association, who represented AHS at the FASC state competition this weekend in Orlando! Over the past three days the students attended leadership workshops, networked with other schools, and saw some inspirational guest speakers. We received 1st place for citizenship development led by Aby Rausch, third place for health and safety led by Brainard Suttles, and a bronze medal overall for our student government! With schools from all over the state it was truly an honor to represent AHS.

Auburndale Senior High School has been registered for the Florida College Access Network’s FAFSA Challenge!  We have until March 31st to finalize FAFSA completions with our seniors, as a part of the challenge.  If you are a senior, and you plan to attend college in 2018-2019, then it is critical that you complete the FAFSA.  There is a 2% chance that you will get Senioritis… There is an 85% chance that you will get aid to help you pay for college.  See Mrs. Cook in College & Career if you need assistance applying!
