Remember your ID, Hounds!

Per district policy all students are required to wear their ID visibly around their neck or chest area.  This is a safety measure so that we can identify our Hounds.  Additionally, effective January 7, students will be required to present their ID when purchasing lunch to verify that students are using their own lunch accounts.  Remember, students can obtain a new ID in the front office.  No Hound will go without lunch!

FFA Results

AHS FFA competed at the Sub-District FFA contests at Lake Gibson High School last night.  Congratulations go out to:

Tyler Brannan, who won first place in the Extemporaneous Speaking contest and will move on to the District Contest in January at Warner University.  Tyler had to select a topic and had 30 minutes to prepare a 4-6 minute speech, then present the speech to a panel of judges.  He received many compliments and we hope he does well at the District FFA Contest in January.

Adrith Himmel, who won third place in the Creed Speaking contest. Adrith had to memorize and recite the 5 paragraph FFA Creed and answer 3 questions related to the creed’s meaning.  We are very proud of her accomplishment and look forward to her continuing to compete in other contests.

Open Enrollment – Digital Graphix Academy

Did you know that open enrollment for Polk County Public Schools is now through January 11th, 2018? If your student is interested in video production, Auburndale High School is the school for them! Our Digital Video Production & Cinema Production courses that are offered by the Digital Graphix Academy offer the Adobe Premiere Pro Industry Certification. These certifications assist with gaining entry into Communications programs at college, and some students have gained internship entry due to being certified. AHS is the only school in Polk County apart from Harrison School for the Arts that has a dedicated Cinema Production program, where we compete with other schools in State and National Competitions. Mr. Oxford, has been teaching at AHS for four and half years and studied Broadcasting and Communications at the University of South Florida. When asked what motivates him, Mr. Oxford said: “I am motivated to help my students be competitive and to succeed.” Follow and like the Auburndale High School page to learn more about what we have to offer!
